Memo for Swiftei Center Air Conditioning Project Change Order No. 1
The Swiftel Center Air Conditioning Project was on May 17th. The successful bidder was
Tessiers, Inc. with the following bid:
Tessier's Inc. Base Bid $193,200.00
Alt. H1 $25,100.00
Alt. H2 $21,420.00
Alt. H3 $7,140.00
Total Base+H1+H3 $225,440.00
The project included the following work:
• Base Bid: Provide 80-ton air-cooled condensing unit, coil, piping, ductwork
modifications, and temperature control system. (This would provide air
conditioning to the existing duct layout)
• Alternate Bid#H1: Relocate supply ductwork and supports approximately 20
feet. (These are the long tubular ducts that run adjacent to the roof on the inside
of the arena).
• Alternate Bid #H3: Provide motor operated control dampers for the supply
ductwork. (The dampers would be installed on the supply ductwork and
wou/d allow "aiming"of the cooling or heating to befter contro/the air flow)
The origina! budget was $250,000.00 and a summary of the total project costs are:
$16547.52 engineering design
$225440.00 contract to build air conditioning
7905.00 painting
$249892.52 total cost
The original plans did not include painting the new duct nor the existing supply ductwork
as there was concerns about keeping the project costs down to meet the budget. During
the course of the project, one section of the supply duct line was dropped and was
subsequently replaced by the contractor. This change order will allow the existing duct,
the new duct returns and the new supply duct to be painted. The price includes a deduct
for the cost of having the contractor paint the dropped duct. The painting will be paid for
out of the Swiftel 2006 Capital Improvement Budget.
