HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCMinutes_2001_09_04 404 Brookings City Council Minutes Tuesday, September 04,2001 The Brookings City Council convened in a budget work session at 1:00 p.m. at City Hall with the following members present: Mayor Virgil Herriott, Council Members Tom Bozied, Scott Munsterman, Mike McClemans, Sam Artz, Doris Roden, and Keri Weems. City Manager Michael Williams was also present. The City Manager reviewed a revised 2002 budget highlighting revenues and expenses that have been adjusted. Motion was made by Bozied, seconded by Weems, to direct the City Manager to bring the City Council a balanced budget with a funded contingency not utilizing one time transfers and special assessments in the general fund. All present voted yes; except Herriott, Artz, Roden voted no; motion carried. Motion was made Munsterman, seconded by Weems, to set the 2002 budget contingency at $250,000. Motion was made by Roden, seconded by Artz, to amend the motion to $200,000. On the motion, Weems, Munsterman, Bozied, and McClemans voted no;Roden, Artz and Herriott voted yes; motion failed. On the ori�inal motion, all present voted yes; motion carried. Motion was made by Munsterman, seconded by Weems, to initiate discussion of the third"B"with the intent to fund cunent programs that fall under, by law, the third B statute, and in addition to dialogue with those groups directly impacted. All present voted yes; motion carried. Motion was made by Munsterman, seconded by Weems, to position the Research and Technology Center as a city enterprise fund. All present voted yes; motion carried. A motion was made by Munsterman, seconded by Weems,to schedule a City Council bud�et meetin� for 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2001. All present voted yes; motion carried. Motion was made by Weems, seconded by Bozied, to adjourn.
