Council Chambers December 9, 1999
City of Brookings
The City Council convened in special session at 4:45 PM with the following members present:
Herriott, McClemans, Bozied(arrived late), Bibby, Artz, Davidson and Weems.
A1 Glover, Attorney was present.
Continuation of a Council meeting that recessed on December 6, 1999. On December 6,the
following motion was tabled until December 9, 1999. Motion was made by Artz, seconded by
Herriott,to pursue an appeal on Bozied vs. City of Brookings to the Supreme Court of the State of
South Dakota. On the motion: Artz, Bibby,Davidson,Herriott and Weems voted YES; McClemans
voted NO; Bozied Abstained. Motion carried.
The City Council recessed to the Community Room for a special meeting with the MultiPlex
Board.
Motion was made by Davidson, seconded by Bibby for the City Council to recommend that a
three (3)person committee be formed from the City, County, and MultiPlex Board to review the need
for any changes in the September 23, 1997 agreement on the Brookings Area MultiPlex Agreement
subject to the County and MultiPlex Board accepting the concept of creating such a committee and
that the City Manager represent the City on this committee. All members voted YES; motion carried.
Motion was made by Weems,seconded by Artz for the City Council to support and encourage
the Park and Recreation Commissions,the Park and Recreation Staff,the Ice Hockey Association,and
the MultiPlex Board to investigate the feasibility of developing a new ice rink facility, in conjunction
with the holding barn, as a multiple use facility at the current site of the proposed holding barns. All
members voted YES;motion carried.
