HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCMinutes_1998_11_03 017 Commission Chambers November 3, 1998 City of Brookings The City Commission convened in regular session at 2:00 PM with the following members present: Mayor Hauschild, Klavetter, Murra, Artz and Plumart Alan Glover, Attorney was present. Minutes of the regular meeting held October 27, 1998 were read and approved. Minutes of the special meeting held October 28, 1998 were read and approved. Motion was made by Plumart, seconded by Artz approving the bills and claims. S. Frenz, services, 157.20; Mac's Inc., supplies,65.90; Gateway 2400, supplies, 3109.00; Brkgs Co. Motion was made by Plumart, seconded by Klavetter approving the agenda. Steve Bublitz, representing the South Dakota Department of Legislative Audit,presented a "schedule of current audit findings and questioned costs". Mr. Bublitz also explained three recommendations regarding his findings. City Attorney Glover was advised to review and respond in writing to the City Commission and Department of Legislative Audit. No official action was taken at this time. Motion was made by Klavetter, seconded by Artz that if the D M&E is willing to by-pass the city at their expense,the city will support the project as proposed. All members voted YES; motion carried. Motion was made by Murra, seconded by Plumart approving Resolution No. 124-98 appainting Darrell Hartmann as the Brookings Fire Chief. All members voted YES; motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 124-98 APPOINTMENT AND ESTABLISHMENT OF ANNUAL SALARY FOR FIRE CHIEF FOR THE CITY OF BROOKINGS, SD. BE IT RESOLVED BY the governing body of the City of Brookings, State of South Dakota, that Darrell Hartmann is hereby appointed to the office of Fire Chief/Fire Marshall effective November 9, 1998 for a term terminating on the 31S`day of December, 1998 subject to the right of removal as provided by State Statute. , BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the annual salary of the Fire Chief shall be $40,488. ols Motion was made by Klavetter, seconded by Artz approving an application to move a 1 '/2 story single-family dwelling from 47225 219"' Street to Lot 31, Block 1, Esther Heights Addition also known as 2110 Rhonda Road. All members voted YES with the exception of Murra abstaining; motion carried. Motion was made by Murra, seconded by Artz approving authorization to advertise for bids for three (3)police cars. All members voted YES; motion carried. Motion was made by Murra, seconded by Klavetter to move into executive session for personnel reasons. All members voted YES; motion carried.
