AN ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE ZONING WITHIN THE CITY OF
BROOKINGS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA:
Section 1. That the real estate situated in the City of Brookings, County of Brookings, State of
South Dakota, described as follows, to wit:
Lots 5 through 12, Block 7, Morehouse Addition
Be and same is hereby rezoned and reclassified from a Business RB-4 District to a
Business B-2A District
In accordance with Section 50.100.010,Article VIII of Ordinance No. 11-94 of the
Code of Ordinance of Brookings, South Dakota, as said districts are more fully set
forth and described in Articles III and V of Ordinance No. 11-94 of the City of
Brookings, South Dakota.
Section 2. The permitted use of the property heretofore described be and the same is hereby
altered and changed in accordance herewith pursuant to said Ordinance No. 11-94,
of the City of Brookings, South Dakota.
Section 3. All sections and ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

RE: City Planning Commission recommendations from the July 5, 2000
meeting
REZONING
Proposal: Rezone 8 lots from a neighborhood business district to a professional office
district.
Background: The 8 lots front on Medary Avenue between 8th Street and 9th Street. This
area was known as "Campus Town" for many years. It had been the location of small
businesses which catered to the university students. The original buildings have now
been either removed or remodeled into other uses.
Site Specifics: The intent of the new owner is to establish an office complex. The B-2A
zone would allow more flexibility in building size but would be more restrictive in terms
of uses.
Recommendation: The City Planning Commission reviewed the differences between the
B-2A and the RB-4 Business Districts and voted 7 yes and 0 no to recommend approval
of the rezoning request.

NOTICE OF ZONING HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Brookings, South Dakota, to be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday,July 24, 2000, in the Council
Chambers of City Hall, in said City, there will be brought up for consideration and adoption with
or without amendment or revision an Ordinance proposing to rezone:
Lots 5 through 12, Block 7, Morehouse Addition from a Business RB-4 District to a
Business RB-4 District
At which time and place all persons interested will be given a full, fair and
complete hearing thereon.
