AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A SUPPLEMENTAL
APPROPRIATION TO THE 2003 BUDGET FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FOR
ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF THE CITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA:
Section 1. WHEREAS,the Annual Appropriation Ordinance for the year 2003 will be impacted
by:
1. Unexpected expenditures
2. Grants to fund the purchase of equipment
3. Donations to fund the purchase of building improvements
4. Sales tax revenues above expected
5. Two major purchases approved in 2002, but costs incurred in 2003.
Section 2. The City Manager has indicated that funds are available for additional appropriation.
Section 3. THE 2003 BUDGET AS PREVIOUSLY AMENDED IS HEREBY AMENDED
as indicated below:

Section 4. ALL ORDINANCES or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
Section 5. THE CITY CHARTER allows that"if during the fiscal year the City Manager
certifies that there are available for appropriation revenues in excess of those estimated in the
budget,the City Council by ordinance may make supplemental appropriations for the year up to
the amount of such excess". This Ordinance is declared to be for the support of the municipal
government and its existing public institutions and it shall be in full force and effect after its
passage and publication.
