An Ordinance Amending The Zoning Ordinance Of The City Of
Brookings And Pertaining To Signs For Purposes Of
Administration Of The Zoning Ordinance
BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BROOKINGS, STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA, THAT CHAPTER 94 SHALL BE
AMENDED AS FOLLOWS:
I.
Table 2
The maximum total square feet of signage on a lot except for incidental, building
marker and flags shall not exceed 32 square feet for institutional uses.
Table 3
The maximum area for a freestanding sign for an institutional use shall not exceed
32 square feet
The maximum height for a freestanding sign for an institutional use shall not
exceed 10 feet.
Table 4
Animated signs are a permitted sign characteristic for institutional uses subject to
the following:
(c) Animation shall only be allowed for uses that customarily involve community
events such as schools, churches, and libraries.
II.
Any or all ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
