An Ordinance Entitled "An Ordinance Authorizing A Supplemental Appropriation To The 2003
Budget For The Purpose Of Providing For Additional Funds For The Operation Of The City.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA:
Section 1. WHEREAS,the Annual Appropriation Ordinance for the year 2003, Ordinance No.
20-02 appropriating revenue for the operation of the municipal government for the year 2003
was approved prior to the Council's awareness of an opportunity to purchase a used Heavy
Rescue Truck to save significant dollars in the five-year Capital Improvement Plan; and
Section 2. WHEREAS,there is currently$126,000 set aside for fire department buildings and
equipment in a capital fund; and
Section 3. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that:
A. The transfer from the 25% Second Penny Fund to the Fire Equipment Fund be
reduced from$270,000 to$144,000; and
B. Fire Department Capital Fund increase of$270,000
Section 4 ALL ORDINANCES or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5. THE CITY CHARTER allows that"if during the fiscal year the City Manager
certifies that there are available for appropriation revenues in excess of those estimated in the
budget,the City Council by ordinance may make supplemental appropriations for the year up to
the amount of such excess". This Ordinance is declared to be for the support of the municipal
government and its existing public institutions and it shall be in full force and effect after its
passage and publication.
