An ordinance amending the zoning ordinance of the City of Brookings and
pertaining to Extended Stay Hotels for the purposes of administration of the
zoning ordinance
Be it ordained by the governing body of the City of Brookings, South Dakota: that Articles 1, IV
and VI of Chapter 94, Zoning, shall be amended as follows:
Article I. In General
Sec. 94-I. Definitions
Hotel, Extended Stay: A building consisting of suites or a group of rooms comprising a self-
contained unit with provisions for living, eating, kitchen facilities, bathroom facilities and
sleeping rooms that is constructed, maintained, and advertised to be a place where temporary
residence is offered for pay to guests for a maximum of 180 days.

Division I. Generally
Section 94-131. Business 8-1 Central District
(c) Permitted Uses
12. Extended Stay Hotel
Section 94-134. Business B-3 Heavy District
(d) Permitted Special Uses
9. Hotel
13. Extended Stay Hotel
a. A minimum lot area of 1,000 square feet shall be provided for each
sleeping room or suite.
Section 94-135. Business B-4 Highway District
(d) Permitted Special Use
8. Motel or Hotel
I I. Extended Stay Hotel
a. A minimum lot area of 1,000 square feet shall be provided
for each sleeping room or suite

Section 94-433. Off-Street Parking Requirements
(c)16a. Hotel, Extended Stay: One (I) space for each suite or unit and one (I) for each
employee
Any or all ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
