Brookings City Council
May 21, 2013
The Brookings City Council held a study session on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 5:00 p.m., at City
Hall with the following members present: Mayor Tim Reed, Council Members Jael Thorpe, John
Kubal, Mike McClemans, Tom Bezdichek and Ope Niemeyer. Keith Corbett was absent. City
Attorney Steve Britzman, City Manager Jeff Weldon and City Clerk Shari Thornes were also
present.
Discussion topics: Street Maintenance Study and Analysis (Strategic Plan Item #7), Summary of
the 2012 Phase II Storm Water Management Program on water quality, Brookings Health
System Quarterly Financial Reports, Reexamine Zoning Regulations pertaining to Landscaping
and Parking in R -3 Districts, and City Council Ex- Officio Reports.
A motion was made by Reed, seconded by Thorpe, to ask the Planning Commission to review
on- premise parking regulations for apartment use. All present voted, except Kubal voted no;
motion carried.
Topics for Future Study Sessions. There was consensus for the City Manager to review the
City's policy on 80' right -of -way major collector streets and bring back to the City Council if he
feels changes are needed.
Adjourn. A motion was made by Reed, seconded by Thorpe, to adjourn. All present voted yes;
motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
