Brookings City Council
April 16, 2013
The Brookings City Council held a study session on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 5:00 p.m., at City
Hall with the following members present: Mayor Tim Reed, Council Members Jael Thorpe, John
Kubal, Mike McClemans, Ope Niemeyer (via phone until 8:01 p.m.) and Keith Corbett. Tom
Bezdichek was absent. City Attorney Steve Britzman, City Manager Jeff Weldon and City Clerk
Shari Thornes were also present.
The City Council toured the East Fire Station at 607 20th Avenue at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m. the City
Council discussed the following topics: Brookings Empowerment Project, Inc., annual review of
Brookings Governance & Ends Policy, discussion of potential regulations of Mixed Martial Arts
contest at publicly owned facilities (modified ordinance for first reading on May 14), discussion
regarding Ex- Officio members and City Council Ex- Officio Reports.
Adjourn. A motion was made by Corbett, seconded by Kubal, to adjourn. All present voted
yes; motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:23 p.m.
