HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOAMinutes_2009_09_17 1 Board of Adjustment Brookings, South Dakota September 17, 2009 OFFICIAL MINUTES Chairperson Dick Peterson called the Board of Adjustment to order on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 5:00 PM in the Council Chamber at City Hall. Members present were David Rusten, alternate - Mike Keating, alternate - Jim Pederson and Peterson. Larry Klingbile, Matt Kurtenbach, and Jay Vanduch were absent. Also present were Scott Smith, Community Development Director Mike Struck, Planning and Zoning Administrator Dan Hanson. Item #1 – (J. Pederson/Rusten) Motion to approve the minutes of the September 3, 2009 meeting. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #2 – (Keating/J. Pederson) Motion to approve the agenda. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #3 – Scott Smith has made a request for a variance on the south 100 feet of Outlot A in the SW¼ of Section 20-T110N-R49W, also known as 716 34th Avenue. The request is to build a deck 63 feet from the front lot line. The required setback is 80 feet in the Agricultural A District. (J. Pederson/Keating) Motion to approve the variance request. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Members present were David Rusten, alternate - Mike Keating, alternate - Jim Pederson and Peterson. Larry Klingbile, Matt Kurtenbach, and Jay Vanduch were absent. Also present were Scott Smith, Community Development Director Mike Struck, Planning and Zoning Administrator Dan Hanson. Item #3 – Smith stated the deck had already been constructed. He previously had a small entrance into his house. He noted that his house was in the Agricultural A Distirct which had a greater setback than any residential district. Keating did not feel the location of the deck presented any issue with surrounding properties.
