HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOAMinutes_2008_05_15Board of Adjustment Brookings, South Dakota May 15, 2008 OFFICIAL MINUTES Vice-chairperson Matt Kurtenbach called the Board of Adjustment to order on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 5:00 PM in the Council Chamber at City Hall. Members present were Larry Klingbile, Jay Vanduch, a-Jim Pederson, and Kurtenbach. Dick Peterson and David Rusten were absent. Also present were Mark Kelsey and City Planner Dan Hanson. Item #1 – (M. Pederson/Vanduch) Motion to approve the minutes of the May 1, 2008 meeting. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #2 – (Keating/J. Pederson) Motion to approve the agenda. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #3 - Mark Kelsey has made a request for a variance on the east 77.6' of Lots 1 and 2 and the south 35' of the east 77.6' of Lot 3, Block 4, Morehouse Addition, also known as 711 7th Street. The request is to replace a house 13' from the front lot line. The required setback in the Residence R-2 District is 25'. (Klingbile/J. Pederson) Motion to approve the variance. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Members present were Larry Klingbile, Jay Vanduch, a-Jim Pederson, and Kurtenbach. Dick Peterson and David Rusten were absent. Also present were Mark Kelsey and City Planner Dan Hanson. Item #3 – Kelsey stated that he lifted his house and removed the basement. He wanted to reset the house on a new foundation in the same place. He noted that other houses in the historic neighborhood had similar setbacks all along the block.
