Joint City/County Planning Commission

OFFICIAL MINUTES
A joint meeting of the City Planning Commission and the County Planning
Commission was called to order by City Planning Commission Chairperson Al
Heuton on February 1, 2011 at 7;00 PM in the City Council Chamber in the lower
level at City Hall, City Planning Commissioners present were Wayne Avery, Hal
Bailey, Mike Cameron, Donna DeKraai, Greg Fargen, Alan Gregg, John Sydow,
and Heuton. John Gustafson was absent. County Planning Commission
members present were Duane Knutson, Darrel Kleinjan, Darrell Nelson, Bob
Roche], and Robb Loomis, Dennis Falken, Jeff Robbins, and Randy Jensen were
absent. Also present were County Zoning Officer Bob Hill, County Zoning Office
Manager Richard Haugen, Community Development Director Mike Struck,
Planning and Zoning Administrator Dan Hanson, John and Vicki Folkerts, and
others.
Item #I - (Cameron/Fargen) Motion to approve the agenda. All present voted
aye. MOTION CARRIED.
Item #2 - John and Vicki Folkerts have submitted a petition to rezone the SWI/4 of
the SW'/a of Section 2 -TI 09N -ROW, excluding the south 18 acres and excluding
the north 75 feet of the south 669 feet of the west 322 feet thereof, from an
Agricultural A District to a Residence R-1 A District,
(DeKraai/Sydow) Motion to approve the rezoning. All present voted aye.
MOTION CARRIED,
(Nelson/Kleinjan) Motion to approve the rezoning, All present voted aye.
MOTION CARRIED.
The meeting was adjourned.

SAUMMARY OF DISCUSSION
A joint meeting of the City Planning Commission and the County Planning
Commission was called to order by City Planning Commission Chairperson Al
Heuton on February 1, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chamber in the lower
level at City Hall. City Planning Commissioners present were Wayne Avery, Hal
Bailey, Mike Cameron, Donna DeKraai, Greg Fargen, Alan Gregg, John Sydow,
and Heuton. John Gustafson was absent. County Planning Commission

Item #2 - Knutson felt that the rezoning request was appropriate for the area, He
noted that an existing R-1 A District was to the south. Fargen remarked that the
proposed district allowed about three (3) dwelling units per acre.
