SUMMARY OF DISCUSSION
Chairperson Dick Peterson called the Board of Adjustment to order on Thursday, March
15, 2007 at 5:00 PM in the Council Chamber at City Hall. Members present were Matt
Kurtenbach, Larry Klingbile, Jay Vanduch, and D. Peterson. David Rusten, alternate Mike
Keating, and alternate Jim Pederson were absent. Others present were Chris Bauman, Orville
Creighton, City Engineer Jackie Lanning, and Zoning Administrator Dan Hanson.
Item #3 – Bauman stated the existing house had a small basement with room only for a water
heater and furnace. He would lift the house off and construct a full basement. The new basement
would be moved forward to the minimum front yard setback in order to create the largest rear
yard that was possible.
Item #4 – Hanson informed the Board that the applicant was unable to be present to discuss his
proposal and asked that the request be tabled.
Item #5 – Orv Creighton, Superintendent of Schools, stated that Brookings High School needed
more space for a high school track expansion project. He added that the fence would be moved
closer to the right-of-way line the same distance that the track would be widened.
D. Peterson asked if the fence would be new. Creighton replied yes. Klingbile asked what
style would be used. Creighton responded that it would be chain link with tubing on top.
The meeting was adjourned.
