Call to Order T. Shanks 2. Approval of the Agenda Motion to Approve: R. Buterbaugh Second: L. Hesler Aye: All Opposed: None 3. Approval of Minutes Motion to Approve: E. Abele Second: A. Patin Aye: All Opposed: None 4. Open Forum At this time, any member of the public may request time on the agenda for an item not listed. Items are not typically scheduled for the end of the meeting; however, very brief announcements of invitations will be allowed at this time. 5. City Update - Samantha Beckman ● No Mow May - Draft created to rescind No Mow May as a City Ordinance. ● Hoping to name that big box store retailer at Marketplace very soon ● Dec 10th City Council approved development agreement for $220M Solventum expansion which would finalize $3.5M in sales tax/TIF for the City ● Six Mile Creek: City met with State to talk about mitigation options to address flooding issues & will be exploring FEMA grants. ● Energy Efficiency Project Updates: ○ Lighting: working on LIC, DBC, Hillcrest Aquatic Center, Library ○ HVAC: East Fire, LIC, DBC ○ Misc: East Fire roof replacement, LIC fire alarm replacement ● EAB update: winter is great for EAB removal since they're more dormant & will prevent less spread ● Collections Trucks wrapped in recycling awareness messaging (2) ●New Compost Screener - working well & already have a nice pile of compost available to residents ●Notify Me for Parking Bans, Engage Brookings for non-emergency reporting ●Jessica our new Communications Specialist is hard at work for recycling awareness campaign (social media posts) ●Golf Course Water Sourcing options still evaluating 2-3 & will need to look at finances to make sure the final choice makes the most sense ●BMU contributing $12,000 toward stormwater incentive program 6. Bee City USA City Council Presentation ●Approved by Bee City USA, just need to get ordinance passed by City Council ●Will submit to City Council in January 7. Bylaws Discussion ●Motion to approve bylaws. Moved: R. Buterbaugh Second: A. Patin Aye: All Opposed: None 8. 2024/2025 Strategic Plan - Accomplished/Future Objectives ●Amend “Strategic Initiative 5: Climate” Goals ●Motion to approve bylaws. Moved: E. Abele Second: L. Hesler Aye: All Opposed: None 9.2025 Memberships ● Connor Evers and Alicia Haich will be a new BSC member starting in January. 10.Updates/Reports from Subcommittees a.Education and Outreach i.Potential collaboration with Girl Scouts in 2025. b.Climate Action Plan i.No Updates c.Waste i.No Updates d.Energy i.No Updates e.Local Foods i. R. Buterbaugh: Signs are completed. Parks Dept.. will likely install in the spring Baseline soil testing completed - everything checks out. 11.
