Parks Update The renovation of pioneer bandshell is underway. We have been meeting with design firms for the restoration of the bandshell. Recently we discovered that the original bandshell did not have the brick facade up front. We are waiting to hear back from the State Historic Preservation Society to see their recommendations. We believe that they will recommend that we revert back to what the bandshell was originally. That would also be Kristin’s recommendation. Construction is still on for the spring of 2024. The project actually came in under budget. The city initially budgeted $100,000 with an additional $100,000 along with the $10,000 we received from the Deadwood grant; we were at $210,000. The Original cost to restore came in at $290,00 but the one we have now received came in at $166,000. With the extra we would possibly have remaining from the project, Kristin Recommends that painting everything along with the bathrooms would give the bandshell a fresher look. The group that we are working with is DA Group and they have connections with the Historic Preservation Office and focus in historic structures. There are no new updates for the water source project at the golf course. The water hasn’t been tested yet. The owners of the land have just recently gotten back to the firm. We are still exploring our options. We have budgeted for the boring to the LG Everests ponds, lining the ponds and a culvert to connect the two ponds. The city has to approve the budget and we are proposing a balanced budget meaning, revenues in and expenses out. 6. Parks Tour We will tour the following Parks on the Parks tour and discuss what we have been working on in the parks: • Pioneer Park • Veterans Park • Community Gardens • Larson Ice Arena • 34th Ave interchange • Golf Course • Softball Complex • Dakota Nature Park • Fishback Soccer Complex • Moriarty Park • McClemans Park • Lions Park • Hillcrest Aquatic Center Page 2 • Brookings Activity Center 7.
