HomeMy WebLinkAboutLBMinutes_2022_04_14BROOKINGS PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES April 14, 2022 MEETING MINUTES The Board of Trustees of the Brookings Public Library met on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 12:00 pm in the Historical Room at the Brookings Public Library. MEMBERS PRESENT: Kathy Miller (Zoom), Doug O’Neill, Stephanie Carroll, Denise Hall, and Linda Richter OTHERS PRESENT: Ashia Gustafson 1. Call to Order Kathy Miller called the meeting to order. 2. Approval of Agenda Kathy Miller asked for any changes to the agenda, hearing none, the agenda was approved. 3. Approval of Minutes Kathy Miller asked for any changes to the minutes from the March 17, 2022 meeting. Hearing none, the minutes were approved. 4. Old Business 4.1 Board Continuing Education Hours Ashia Gustafson presented the Library Board members with the current record of continuing education hours (45out of 45). Ashia Gustafson would request for the Library Board members to attend SDLA conference which is held in Brookings, SD this year, even if the continuing education hours have been completed. A discussion on accreditation was had to help new board member Linda Richter understand why the Board pursues continuing education credits. 5. New Business 5.1 Approval of Bills The Library Board members discussed the March 2022 bills, budgets and expenditures. Doug O’Neill moved to approve the March 2022 bills. Stephanie Carroll seconded. Motion carried. 5.2 Acceptable Policy Ashia Gustafson provided the Acceptable Behavior Policy to the Library Board members. After reviewing the Acceptable Behavior Policy, the Library Board members have no changes to be made. 6. Other Items & Reports 6.1 Financial Report Ashia Gustafson presented the review of the 2022 Budget through March to the Library Board members. Budget spending is going well and is on track. 6.2 Librarian’s Report Ashia Gustafson presented the monthly report to the Library Board members. 7. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda Kathie Miller commented that she hopes the camera the Library will be borrowing from City Hall will work better for Zoom programs as she has had problems hearing some of the programming presented via Zoom. 8. Next Meeting: Thursday, May 12 at 12:00 PM in the Historical Room 9. Adjournment The Library Board Meeting was adjourned at 12:30 pm.
