Agenda Discussions:
➢Jeff called the meeting to order.
➢December minutes were approved.
➢Ashley gave an update on staffing and advisory board.
➢Ashley presented and the board discussed a SWOT analysis of the facility. The Dacotah Bank
Center's strengths include its great location, diverse revenue streams, and in-house food and
beverage services. Challenges were noted, including seating capacity limitations, seasonal
fluctuations leading to inconsistent revenue, and increasing competition from other venues in South
Dakota. Opportunities highlighted included strengthening relationships with tenant teams,
expanding cultural event offerings, and increasing agricultural event programming. However,
economic uncertainty, competition from other venues, and the impact of weather-related disruptions
were identified as ongoing threats.
➢Ashley gave an update on Dacotah Bank Center capital projects. The arena concrete work and
Lobby B renovations were completed in 2025, along with the installation of box office
microphones. Lighting upgrades are currently in progress, while the security system project has
reached Phase 1 completion in 2025. The restroom renovation project has moved into the RFP
stage, and the window project is also underway.
➢Ashley and Lisa presented a financial update for January 2025. The month-end report shows a
variance of -$27k compared to the budgeted -$25k. The 2025 rolling forecast now anticipates 104
events, down from the 115 originally budgeted, with a projected deficit of -$565k versus the
budgeted -$390k. A conservative approach will be maintained across all areas moving forward, with
a focus on identifying solutions to mitigate financial impacts.
➢Next meeting is scheduled for April 24, 2025, at 12:00pm.
➢Jeff adjourned the meeting.
