Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
Thursday, June 27th, 2024 @ 12pm
Dacotah Bank Center
Present: Nick Schmeichel, Laura Schoen Carbonneau, Bill Retterath, Elena McKeown, Jeff Holm, Mike
Logan, Dacotah Bank Center General Manager, Lisa Robinson Dacotah Bank Center Director of Finance &
Kristin Zimmerman, City of Brookings Park & Recreation Director.
Agenda Discussions:
➢ Jeff called the meeting to order.
➢ April minutes were approved.
➢ Mike introduced the new Director of Partnerships Kayla Gullickson and new Director of Operations
Cordy Pohlen. Mike also introduces Michael Czopek Vice President of the west for OVG Global
Partnerships. Michael is in town assisting in onboarding Kayla. Mike also gave an update on two
promotions. Kelly Dahlhoff was promoted to Events Manager from Events Coordinator and Mitchell
Lloyd was promoted to Operations Manager from Operations Supervisor. Their previous roles are
open and in the interview stages.
➢ Mike presented and the board discussed a SWOT analysis of the facility. Highlights include a strong
Q1 & Q2 event schedule as well as strong economic impact. Mike discussed weak fall/winter. This
will continue to be the focus for the rest of the year. Mike discussed opportunities for 2024 & 2025
event booking and potential new partnerships with Kool Beans, Downtown Brookings, & Daily Pay.
Threats continue with high expenses v revenues and variable concert holds.
➢ Mike gave an update on Dacotah Bank Center capital projects. Mike gave a 2024 project update on
bathrooms, safety lines in the rigging grid, lighting/ AV equipment, and concrete work, as well as,
arena roof issues that are being addressed.
➢ Mike presented May YTD financials. He also provided an update on conversations being had with
city staff as well as city council and the facilities FY 2025 operating and CIP budgets.
➢ Next meeting is scheduled for August 22nd at 12:00pm.
➢ Jeff adjourned the meeting.
