Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
Thursday, June 16th, 2022 @ Noon
Swiftel Center
Present: Teri Ronning; Nick Schmeichel; Bill Retterath; Bridgit Burghardt Visit Brookings; Mike Logan,
Swiftel Center General Manager; Erick Rangel City of Brookings
Agenda Discussions:
➢ Mike called the meeting to order.
➢ March minutes were approved.
➢ Mike gave an update on OVG scholarship and capital commitments. Mike is in touch with the SDSU
Foundation office and OVG funds will be distributed this month.
➢ Mike gave an update on Swiftel Center capital projects. Both the audio and HVAC projects were
approved by city council. Audio will start and finish in September. HVAC will start in September
and will be completed around March of 23. The goal is to not impact events. Special thank you to
Nick Schmeichel for his help on the audio project!
➢ Mike gave the board a team update. Jett Davis has joined the team as an Operations Supervisor for
the summer as he is in between semesters. Unfortunately, Mary Jo Eisenbeisz will be leaving her roll
as Director of Events. This position has been posted.
➢ Mike provided the board with an update on 1st quarter 2022 financials. Overall, we are projecting to
hit our 2022 budget. He also provided a closing timeline for April & May financials. We are hoping
to provide April and May by the end of June and July on time.
➢ Mike reported on current challenges, specifically operational challenges due to the May 12th,
Derecho. Mike reported on repair efforts as well as postponed and cancelled shows. Paw Patrol is
rescheduled to January of 2023.
➢ Mike provided the board with some recent wins. This included Cody Johnson sell out, Active Heating
and strong digital sponsorships, and SDSU rodeo hitting the highest gross ticket sales in history.
Mike also provided an update on the Swiftel Center naming rights search.
➢ Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday August 25th, 2022 at 12:00pm.
➢ Mike adjourned the meeting.
