Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
Thursday, March 24, 2022 @ Noon
Swiftel Center
Present: Teri Ronning; Nick Schmeichel; Alex Parker; Jeff Holm; Jennifer Johnson; Bill Retterath; Mike
Logan, Swiftel Center General Manager; Erick Rangel City of Brookings
Agenda Discussions:
➢ Jeff called the meeting to order.
➢ January minutes were approved.
➢ Mike reported on that Oak View Groups vaccine mandate is no longer in effect. He also reported on
Oak View’s leadership conference in February at the Pollstar Conference. The group had a discussion
about capital projects. More time is needed on the Audio project.
➢ Mike gave the board a team update. Kristina Lankow leaving and Ashley Biggar joining the team was
the highlight. We also had a discussion about hiring efforts for operations.
➢ Mike provided the board with an update on 2021 financials. He also provided a closing timeline for
1st quarter 2022 financials. Lisa Robinson was also introduced to the group.
➢ Mike reported on current challenges, specifically where to fit cattle shows into the mix. All agreed
that it has to make business sense. I.e if it is not possible or logical to put them in between other arena
events due to staffing concerns and building cleanliness, don’t. Look at summer as the main focus for
these types of shows.
➢ Director of Partnerships Brooke Barhite reported on our increase in sponsorships since the Spectra
takeover. Overall, she is at 82% or $204,300 out of $248,500 of her goal.
➢ Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday May 19th, 2022 at 12:00pm.
➢ Jeff adjourned the meeting.
