1.The meeting was called to order at 12:12 PM
2.Approval of Agenda
A motion to approve the agenda with the addition of discussion of downtown signs,was
made by Matt,seconded by Lynda.The motion carried by the following votes:
-Yes:Ramona,Matt,Lynda,Ali,Aysia,Jennifer,Mark

3.Approval of minutes
A motion to approve the minutes was made by Matt,seconded by Lynda.The motion
carried by the following votes:

4.Budget Update

Brookings Special Olympics change to only school aged.However,the
individuals involved are in discussions on how to move forward.

6.Remaining open positions
There are various open seats.Mark suggested the committee consider individuals for
these.
7.Work Plan Item:
a.NDEAM Proclamation -October 22nd Ramona will ask Brookings Area
Self-Advocates to attend.
b.White Cane -Aysia reported that NFB will be partaking and spear-heading the
event
i.10/15/24 at 4:30pm
ii.Is a permit necessary?
1.Maureen noted it would be beneficial to submit a permit.
iii.Advertisements were in the Brookings Register and Town and Country
Shopper.
A motion to allocate $200 for White Cane Advertising was made by Matt,seconded by
Lynda.The motion carried by the following votes:
-Yes:Ramona,Matt,Lynda,Ali,Aysia,Mark

Avoid November &December
Lynda recommended a representative from The Wintrode Center at SDSU for the
October meeting.
8.Listening Session Update
Next session is October 24th at 5pm.
9.ASL Class:Update
Aysia continues to work with Sammy and Mikaela to coordinate details.Space at the
library is limited.There are concerns about the allocated money timeline.The Larson
Performing Arts Center was discussed.Aysia suggested looking for an alternative
space to be able to start sooner.
10.Events/Publicity Discussion
-Mark requested the committee discuss options at the next 2 meetings.
-All merchandise that was at the Fall for Downtown Event was distributed.
-Aysia requested that whoever is managing the direct messages on the BDAC
page say their name.
12.Next meeting is October 24th at 12:00PM on September 26th,hybrid format.
-November meeting date and time will be determined at the next meeting.
13.Adjournment
