The Brookings Airport Board was called to order by Brady Klocker on Thursday,
September 19, 2024 at 3:30 PM in Conference Room #241, Second Floor. Members
present were Dan Krogstad, Brian VanLiere, Isaac Wilde, and Klocker. Absent was
Lynn Riedesel. Also present were Airport Manager Lucas Dahl, FBO-Randy Hansen
and Paul Hanusa.
Item #1 - Roll Call
Item #2 - (Krogstad/Wilde) Motion to approve the agenda. All present voted aye.
MOTION CARRIED.
Item #3 - (VanLiere/Krogstad) Motion to approve the August 21, 2024 minutes. All
present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
Item #4 - Airport Manager's Report - Construction of new hangar is progressing. Last
week staff attended ARFF training for Dahl to become recertified.
A preconstruction meeting will be held soon for the Parallel Taxiway Construction.
Women in Aviation is interested in holding a fundraising event at the airport. They
would like to host a Pumpkin Dropping Event. Dahl is trying to help them find a
location since it will not work to hold this on the runway at the airport. Any
suggestions would be appreciated. A pasture or some grassland would be a good
idea.
Item #5 - SDSU Report - Funk will be retiring October 4, 2024. They have hired a new
mechanic. SDSU has also hired a new Chief Pilot.
Item #6 - FBO Report - Hanusa explained that Summit Aviation will be finishing up and
moving out some time this week. Jet fuel sales have been up due to the helicopter
at the airport.
Item #7- Other Items & Reports - Hansen inquired about being on the agenda for an
Executive Session for contract discussion.
Item #8 - Next Scheduled Meeting -October 17, 2024.
