1.The meeting was called to order at 12:01 PM
2.Approval of Agenda
A motion to approve the agenda with the addition of discussion of downtown signs,was
made by Matt,seconded by Rachel.The motion carried by the following votes:

3.Approval of minutes
A motion to approve the minutes was made by Lynda,seconded by Matt .The motion
carried by the following votes:

4.Budget Update
-$10.00 for Fall for Downtown

Discussion of verbiage of “walk your wheels”
The list of names on the agenda’s need to be update.Maureen will confirm that this will
be completed.

1.“Community conversations”group is looking for facilitators.
a.5 weeks of group meetings,1 hour
b.2 facilitators,10 group members
c.Topic is determined at first meeting.
d.Facilitators need to be available 1 hour a week for 5 weeks
e.Facilitator training on the 7th
f.Information session is 9/12 to provide the opportunity to sign up to ge a
group member
i.Speaker will be presenting on “Civil Discourse”
2.Sept 5th.Disability Etiquette and ADA Basics Seminar
a.History of ADA &5 titles
b.Define disability
c.Prevalence of disability and why access matters
d.Makaela will ask Aysia to share the event.
3.Activities series

a.Mayor ’s Awards
i.1 Nomination for Boys and Girls Club for the Empower Award
A motion was made by Mark,and seconded by Ramona,to choose the Boys and Girls
Club for the Empower Award.The motion carried by the following votes:

A motion was made by Ramona,and seconded by Matt for the Brookings Ambulance to
receive the ABLE award.

b.Proclamation
i.NDEAM proposed for October.Maureen will send out and it will be
reviewed in September.
8.Listening Session Update
a.October 22nd 5-6:30pm
b.There is a list of people being asked to come.
c.There will be a recording.
d.Lynda will write up a script to ask people to come.
e.Focus on topics from the original meeting.
f.Maureen will reserve Room 300 in City Building
g.There are drinks left over from previous meeting that will be used for this
meeting.
h.City will provide notepads and pens.
9.ASL Class:Update
a.Aysia and Sammy will be working on getting a schedule established.
10.Downtown Sign Verbiage
a.Mark will send out the email with particular verbiage for committee to review and
discuss at next meeting.
b.Discussion of verbiage of “walk your wheels”
c.The image depicts things like bikes,skateboard and rollerblades.
d.To be determined on where and frequency of signage.
e.The committee has no opposition and does not view the logo and verbiage as
offensive.Particularly highlighting that the logo is necessary.
11.Events/Publicity Discussion
-Merch to hand out
-Fall for downtown is September 14th
-Cookies will be utilized for this.Mark will look into ordering the cookies.
12.Next meeting is at 12:00PM on September 26th,hybrid format.November and
December meetings will be scheduled at next meeting.
