The Brookings Airport Board was called to order by Brian VanLiere on Thursday, March
21, 2024 at 3:30 PM in Conference Room # 147, First Floor. Members present were Dan
Krogstad, Lynn Riedesel, Isaac Wilde, and VanLiere. Absent was Brady Klocker. Also

Torgrude, FBO-Paul Hanusa and Randy Hansen, and Helms & Associates -Mike
Schmidt.

MOTION CARRIED.
Item #3 - (Krogstad/Wilde) Motion to approve the February 15, 2024 minutes. All
present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
Item #4 - Hangar Development/Taxiway Construction - Schmidt presented a design
for potential hangar taxiway construction. This construction is being discussed due to
the potential of a new hangar being built. Because of the current construction
projects, in progress, funding from the FAA for this project could be difficult. If the
FAA cannot come up with any discretionary monies, we could utilize other federal bill
money that is available as some of this needs to be used within the next year. Helms
is waiting to get an answer from the FAA on funding. Helms also suggests requesting
funds for the design of the hangar taxiway extension in 2024. If funds become
available, we could possibly bid the hangar taxiway extension for 2025 construction.
Construction of the Parallel Taxiway will not happen until 2025 due to the timing of
the grant funds. Some dirt work will need to be done yet this year. Bidding for this
project could happen early 2025 to allow construction to begin in the Spring and be
complete by September. They anticipate having to shut down the runways, but not
at the same time and there will be plenty of notification given.
Item #5 - Airport Manager's Report - Dahl and Torgrude provided a tour to City
Management this week. Explained day to day activities to them and showed them
around the airport. Others, including SDSU, also provided presentations to the staff.
Dahl reminded everyone of the upcoming Airport Conference and provided an
agenda. The card reader on the gate needs replacing and the part has been
ordered.
Item #6 - SDSU Report - Riedesel explained that the damaged airplane is getting put
back together. The Air Force will be bringing back two of the Aim High classes again
this Summer.
Item #7 - FBO Report - Hanson stated that jet fuel sales are down but AvGas is staying
steady.
