HomeMy WebLinkAboutAirMinutes_2024_01_18Brookings Regional Airport Board Brookings, SD 57006 January 18, 2024 The Brookings Airport Board was called to order by Brian VanLiere on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 3:30 PM in Conference Room #300, Third Floor. Members present were Dan Krogstad, Lynn Riedesel, Brady Klocker arrived at 3:40 p.m. and VanLiere. Absent was Isaac Wilde. Also present were Airport Manager Lucas Dahl, Maintenance Technician Brett Torgrude, City Engineer Charlie Richter, Public Works Director John Thompson and Randy Hansen from the FBO. Item #1 - Roll Call Item #2 - (Riedesel/Krogstad) Motion to approve the agenda. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #3 - (Krogstad/Riedesel) Motion to approve the December 21, 2023 minutes. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #4 - Election of Chairperson and Vice -Chair - (Riedesel/Krogstad) Motion to nominate Klocker as Chairperson and VanLiere as Vice Chairperson for 2024. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. VanLiere had spoken with Klocker and he was in agreement with keeping the seat as Chairperson. Klocker arrived at 3:40 p.m. Item #5 - Airport Manager's Report - Recently there has been some interest in new hangars being built. Nothing has been committed to yet. One of the hangars will require an extension of the taxiway. Wildlife Certificates have been submitted. The annual South Dakota Airport Conference will be held in Deadwood in April. Dahl is working with Helms to try to get a sponsor meeting scheduled again. Klocker explained how the conference works and who is there to present. Item #6 - SDSU Report - None. Item #7 - FBO Report - Hanson reported that fuel and AvGas sales are doing great. For 2023 AvGas - 100,300 gallons and jet fuel - 101,800 gallons. More people are taking fuel and there is more traffic than in years past. Klocker asked Hanson if de- icing equipment has ever been considered. Hanson explained that they have looked into this and possibly even purchasing something with the City but it hasn't ever happened. Klocker explained a process that they used in Watertown that sufficed for "de-icing" equipment and materials. He encouraged Hanson to look into this. Item #8 - Other Items & Reports - None. Item #9 - Next Scheduled Meeting - February 15, 2024. Item #10 - Executive Session Item #10a - (Krogstad/Riedesel) Motion to move into Executive Session. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
