BOARD OF TRUSTEES
May 9, 2019
MEETING MINUTES
The Board of Trustees of the Brookings Public Library met on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 5:30 pm in the Historical Room at the
Brookings Public Library.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Deb Waltman, James Rice, Kathy Miller, Doug O’Neill
OTHERS PRESENT: Ashia Gustafson, Jen Anderson
1. Call to Order
Deb Waltman called the meeting to order.
2. Approval of Agenda
Deb Waltman called for approval of the meeting agenda. Kathy Miller moved to approve the meeting agenda. James Rice
seconded. Motion carried.
3. Approval of Minutes
Deb Waltman called for approval of the minutes from the April 15, 2019 meeting. James Rice moved to approve the meeting
minutes. Kathy Miller seconded. Motion carried.
4. Old Business
4.1 Safety Assessment
Ashia Gustafson informed the Library Board members that the safety assessment will be done on Monday, May 13 at 8:15 am.
Ashia Gustafson will have the results of the safety assessment at the next board meeting.
5. New Business
5.1 Approval of Bills
The Board discussed the April 2019 bills, budgets and expenditures. James Rice moved to approve the April 2019 bills. Doug
O’Neill seconded. Motion carried.
5.2 Carpet Budget Line
Ashia Gustafson presented to the Library Board members the proposed usage of the remaining carpet budget amount. The
Library Board discussed waiting on the remaining carpet budget until the end of this year.
6. Other Items & Reports
6.1 Financial Report
Ashia Gustafson presented the review of the April 2019 budgets to the Library Board. Library Board members discussed
upcoming travel expenses and would like to review the estimated 2020 budget.
6.2 Librarian’s Report
Ashia Gustafson presented the monthly report to the Library Board. Surplus is live now until Wednesday, May 22. Library Board
members discussed accreditation hours.
7. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda
8. Next Meeting: Thursday, June 13 at 5:30 PM
9. Adjournment
Doug O’Neill moved to adjourn the meeting. James Rice seconded. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 pm.
