Members Present: Cara Beers, Benda Berseth, Cyndy Boesch, Keith Corbett, Heidi Gullickson, Robert
Hill, Kristi Larsen, Mike Lockrem, Brian Lueders, LeeAnn Pierce, Cami Powers, Emily Toms, and David
Wiltse. Staff Present: Chelsie Bakken, Ashia Gustafson, and Mike Struck.
Keith Corbett was selected as Chair and Kristi Larsen as Vice Chair of the committee.
Struck provided an overview of the 2020 Complete Count Committee. The committee consists of
representatives from a wide cross-section of the community with the goal of serving as champions for
the community in helping educate, market, and encourage citizens to complete the 2020 Census
questionnaire.
Struck provide a brief overview of the 2020 Census Bureau’s website and the resources available. Plan
to utilize as much of the resources as possible with the ability to tailor the messages to the Brookings
area as needed. City and County budgeted funds for the 2020 Census and want to utilize traditional
(newspaper and radio) and social media (facebook, twitter, instagram, geo-fencing, etc.) platforms.

Discussion on how to engage SDSU students and encourage completion of the survey, especially off-
campus students.
Committee members tasked with identifying effective ways to communicate with their clients,
members, constituents, etc. to create awareness of the upcoming census. At the January meeting,
committee members will work on media plan.
Next meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 12:00 PM.
