HomeMy WebLinkAboutAirMinutes_2022_04_21Brookings Regional Airport Boart Brookings, SD 57004: April 21, 2022 The Brookings Airport Board was called to order by Brady Klocker on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 3:40 PM in Conference Room #241, Second Floor. Members present were Ory Smidt, Riedesel, and Klocker. Absent were Brian VanLiere and Judy McLaughlin. Also present were Airport Manager Matthew Sommerfeld and SDSU-Devin Bastemeyer. Item #1 - Roll Call Item #2 - (Riedesel/Smidt) Motion to approve the agenda. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #3 - (Smidt/Riedesel) Motion to approve the March 17, 2022 minutes. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #4 - Airport Manager's Report -- Sommerfeld reviewed the CIP report from the recent CIP meeting. In 2023 the Design of the Parallel Taxiway project is scheduled. There is Federal money that will be received each year that we will be able to bank for up to 5 years, with this in mind, in 2025 there is a possibility of building a Snow Removal Equipment facility (SRE). Rehabilitating of the parking lot is being discussed for 2023. This would not be covered by federal or state funds. Sommerfeld would like to close the main runway 12/30 down for a couple of hours to allow them to do a physical inspection, on foot, to check for any issues that they cannot see while in the vehicle for the daily inspections. Airport Operations reports were reviewed. There were nearly 4000 operations for the month of March. The B-25 will be at the Airport on May 10th from 10:30-12:30. Hangar Development was reported by Randy Hansen to Sommerfeld. Final grading is currently being complete. The floor should be poured next week to keep things on schedule as planned. Items #5 - SDSU Report SDSU has received an aircraft to use for 6 months. They are stilling working with SDSU IT and City IT to install security cameras. Item #6 - F130 Report - None.
