HomeMy WebLinkAboutAirMinutes_2022_02_17Brookings Regional Airport Board Brookings, SD 57006 February 17, 2022 The Brookings Airport Board was called to order by Brian VanLiere on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 3:30 PM in Community Room #300, Third Floor. Members present were Ory Smidt, Brady Klocker, Judy McLaughlin via telephone, and VanLiere. Absent was Lynn Riedesel. Also present were Airport Manager Matthew Sommerfeld, City Engineer Charlie Richter, SDSU-Devin Bastemeyer, and FBO- Randy Hansen. Item #1 - Roll Call Item #2 - (Smidt/Klocker) Motion to approve the agenda. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #3 - (Klocker/Smidt) Motion to approve the December 16, 2021 minutes. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #4 - The next scheduled meeting date is Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. Item #5 - Airport Manager's Report - Sommerfeld reported that a B-25 and possibly a P-51 mustang will be arriving first part of May and open the aircraft up to the public. Work continues on SRE for this grant season and hopefully will go out for bids this Spring. PAPI's are all functional but Sommerfeld believes there are issues with the PAPI on RWY 30 where a fuse keeps going out. Sommerfeld and Muth Electric are troubleshooting the problem. The Airport Conference is April 6th -7th in Pierre and registration will go out to board members that would like to attend. Sommerfeld handed out the Virtower report that indicates 3,495 total operations for the month of January. Items #6 - SDSU Report - Bastemeyer reported that they flew 1500 hours so far and lost about 1300 due to weather. New aircraft expected in March. Item #7 - FBO Report - Hansen updated the hangar development. Building materials should be arriving early Spring. Helms and Hansen have been working on drainage for the new hangar and potential modification if needed to accommodate drainage around the hangar.
