January 10, 2019
MEETING MINUTES
The Board of Trustees of the Brookings Public Library met on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 5:30 pm in the Historical Room at
the Brookings Public Library.
MEMBERS PRESENT: James Rice, Kathy Miller, Deb Waltman, Sarah Meusburger, Doug O’Neill
OTHERS PRESENT: Ashia Gustafson, Jen Anderson
1. Call to Order
James Rice called the meeting to order.
2. Approval of Agenda
James Rice called for approval of the meeting agenda. Kathy Miller moved to approve the meeting agenda. Doug O’Neill
seconded. Motion carried.
3. Approval of Minutes
3.1 Minutes
James Rice called for approval of the minutes from the December 13, 2018 meeting. Kathy Miller moved to approve the meeting
minutes. Sarah Meusburger seconded. Motion carried.
4. Election of Officers
The Library Board members discussed electing new Officers. James Rice (President) and Kathy Miller (Vice President) served
for the past two years. James Rice moved to elect Deb Waltman as the President of the Library Board and to elect Sarah
Meusburger as the Vice President of the Library Board. Doug O’Neill seconded. Motion carried.
5. Old Business
5.1 Accreditation
Ashia Gustafson informed the Library Board that the Library has received exemplary status by completing the accreditation.
Ashia Gustafson invited Board members to attend the South Dakota Library Legislative Day 2019 in Pierre, SD on Tuesday,
February 12.
6. New Business
6.1 Approval of Bills
The Board discussed the December 2018 bills, budgets and expenditures. Deb Waltman called for approval of the December
2018 bills, budgets and expenditures. James Rice moved to approve the December 2018 bills. Kathy Miller seconded. Motion
carried.
7. Other Items & Reports
7.1 Financial Report
Ashia Gustafson presented the review of the December 2018 budgets to the Library Board.
7.2 Librarian’s Report
Ashia Gustafson presented the monthly report to the Library Board. Ashia Gustafson informed the Library Board about the
bathroom issue. Ashia Gustafson will have an inspector look at the pipes on the main level bathrooms.
8. Public Comment on Items not on Agenda
9. Next Board Meeting: Thursday, February 14 at 5:30 pm
10. Adjournment
James Rice moved to adjourn the meeting. Kathy Miller seconded. The meeting adjourned at 6:08 pm.
