HomeMy WebLinkAboutAirMinutes_2021_12_16Brookings Regional Airport Board Brookings, SD 570N, December 16,2021 The Brookings Airport Board was called to order by Brian VanLiere on Thursday, December 16,2021 at 3:30 PM in Community Room #300, Third Floor. Members present were Ory Smidt, Lynn Riedesel, Brady Klocker, an VanLiere. Absent was Judy McLaughlin. Also present were Airport Manager Matthew Sommerfeld, City Engineer Charlie Richter, SDSU-Devin Bastemeyer, and s# P# Hanusa and Randy Hansen. I Item #1 - Roll Call Item #2 - (Klocker/Smidt) Motion to approve the agenda. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #3 - (Riedesel/Klocker) Motion to approve the November 18, 2021 minutes. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #4 - The next scheduled meeting date is Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. Item #5 - Minter Operations - Sommerfeld made note of any changes that will need to be made per FAA. There will not be any breaking action noted on the NOTAM's. In the future the NOTAM's process will change and will be processed through the ICAO system. NOTAM's will no longer be issued stating that the ,.runways have been plowed or swept unless they are less then full width. There will be additional staff to help with snow clearing this winter. Staff doesn't plan to close the runway unless there is 391 or more of snow. During the day, they will keep staff clearing snow to try to prevent any closures. If a flight needs to come in, after hours, staff will need approixmately a I hour lead time to allow them time to move the snow for a landing. Item #6 - Approval of Land Leases - Sommerfeld reported the leases that are coming up for renewal. Riedesel Site J3, Waltman Site K, Ulvestad Site N, Kersting Site S2, Intermill Site V1. These leases do not require City Council action for renewal. (Klocker/Riedesel) Motion to approve the renewals on the hangar leases. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. OW& It #7 Hangar uevelopment -_Hansen reported that the footings and foundation have been formed and the concrete will be poured for these within the next week. Item #8 - Airport Manager's Report - Sommerfeld provided the first Virtower report. This report tracks the aircraft operations at Brookings Regional Airport. This program started in November and this report is just short of a 1 month time frame. The airport had one day when there were 206 operations. They also geo-fenced the area and are able to determine how often each of the ramps are being used. Items #9 - SDSU Report - Bastemeyer reported that they have been busy finishing up for the semester. Item #10 - FBO Report - Hansen and Hanusa reported that their fuel contract was up and they have signed another 5 year contract Phillips 66. Jet and AvGas sales continue to incline. Additionally, they have purchased a new jet truck. Items #11 - Other Items & Reports - None. Items #12 Election of Officers - (Riedesel/Smidt) Motion to keep VanLiere as President and Klocker as Vice -President for 2022.
