Please contact committee with any updates 5.Public Promotions a.Disability Awareness Day July 26th i.How did it, is it going? -Edit for "What if it was Me" sticky notes-- lighter color to actually be used as a sticky note to write on, a Brookings-specific hash-tag, labels on the back of the packets of instructions of purpose of notes -Look at creating buttons of the note design (contact SDState Theater) -City "Fun Fact" Friday is all about disabilities ii.Next year -Since it is the 40th anniversary of PL94 142 and 30th anniversary of ADA, consider having a "What if it was Me" day iii.Statewide -There is an ADA Day in Pierre in February -July 26th, 2020 will be SD ADA Day b.Community Band concert July 21st How did it go? i.Ice Cream Had three leftover tubs after serving band, donated to Boys & Girls Club because of storage and investing in the community ii.Volunteers Had four committee members and three band members help out Page 1 July 26, 2019Brookings Committee for People who have Disabilities Meeting Agenda Assisted Listening Systems (ALS) are available upon request by contacting (605) 692-6281. Next year? -Consider reducing amount of ice cream -Have mayoral proclamation during the band concert -Consider having last concert the day of the anniversary of ADA -Bring marketing materials and more advertising of committee during ice cream serving -Speak during the concert about committee Able Award to BATA i.Plaque -Look at the process and potential winners of the ABLE awards ii.At the Mayor Social in September 6. Other Items -Motion to take a committee photo at the next meeting, Motion by Connie Lemke, Seconded by Brianna Doran -Look at future events in October with Disability Awareness Month -Look at current brochures being handed out -Susan had received an email from a for-profit company about "Best Colleges" in US and wanted us to promote it on city website-- voted not to.
