Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, March 31, 2021 @ Noon

Present: Teri Ronning, Jeff Holm, Jennifer Johnson, Laura Schoen Carbonneau; Rod Schaefer, Kyleigh
Cramer, Nick Schmeichel; Erick Rangel, City of Brookings CFO; Tom Richter, Swiftel Center Executive
Director, Andrea Hogie, Swiftel Center Director of Finance
Agenda Discussions:
Jeff called the meeting to order.
The January 27, 2021 minutes were approved.
February YTD financials were presented.
Tom presented the 2020 annual report.
Tom reported:
o 2021 we have re-organized. Associate Executive Director position has been eliminated.
Associate Director of Event Services will oversee the Operations team, Events team, and the
Executive Chef. The Event Manager has been promoted to Director of Event Services. Sales
& Marketing Manger working full time at the City until the end of June. Box Office Manager
working 30 hours a week. Operations Supervisor working 30 hours a week and cleaning the
PD 10 hours a week. Event Coordinator working half time at the Swiftel Center and half time
at the City until the end of June. F&B Manager position has been eliminated. We are down
to 9 full time compared to 13 full time a year ago.
o We will continue spraying until the end of April.
o We will receive a second round of PPP.
o Tom attended the City strategic retreat and Swiftel Center projects include an attached hotel
and expansion. Expanding the holding barn. Also, understanding the ROI to the City.
o The Economic Impact study group will be presenting to the City Council on Tuesday, April
20, 2021.
o The City is the middle of the RFP process. Jeff, Jennifer and Nick are on the committee.
o Events have included Pheasants Forever banquet, Baseball banquet, SDSU Rodeo practice in
the holding barn, Wildfire Cheer & Dance, POD 1st & 2nd vaccinations.
Next meeting Wednesday May 26, 2021 at NOON.
