Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, January 27, 2021 @ Noon

Present: Teri Ronning, Jeff Holm, Laura Schoen Carbonneau; Rod Schaefer, Kyleigh Cramer, Erick Rangel,
City of Brookings CFO; Tom Richter, Swiftel Center Executive Director, Andrea Hogie, Swiftel Center
Director of Finance
Agenda Discussions:
Jeff called the meeting to order.
Jeff Holm was nominated & elected Chairperson. Jennifer Johnson was nominated & elected Vice-
Chair.
The November 13, 2020 minutes were approved.
November YTD financials were presented.
4th Quarter events, event days & attendance were presented.
Tom reported:
o 2020 we did many outside the box projects like 4000 ICAP meals, 3 cattle shows in July and
disinfecting city offices.
o 2020 also affected staff with no 401K match, no cost of living increase, salary rollbacks and
furloughs.
o 2021 we are re-organizing. Some of the staff will remain furloughed through the 1st & 2nd
quarters.
o 2021 hopefully we will receive either a second round of PPP or the SVOG.
o City strategic projects include an attached hotel and expansion of the Swiftel Center. As well
as looking at a holding barn expansion.
o The Economic Impact study group’s goal is to present and validate our impact to the City
Council in either March or April.
o VenuWorks contract is up July 31, 2021. The City is putting out RFP’s in February for a
management company. Jeff Holm volunteered to help on the committee.
