HomeMy WebLinkAboutTSCMinutes_2021_10_141 BROOKINGS TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE City & County Government Center, 520 3rd Street Room 300 (3rd floor) Thursday, October 14, 2021 12:10 p.m. The Brookings Traffic Safety Committee held its monthly meeting on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 12:10pm in the City & County Government Center, Room 300. Members Present: Lewayne Erickson, Jake McGlade, Justin Bucher, Tony Sonnenburg, Jacob Meshke, Charlie Richter, and Jeremy Linstad. Members Absent: Dave Erickson, Kacie Richard, Brian Lueders, Gary Gramm, Stacy Perry, Tim Heaton, Charles Schnabel, and Don Norton. Others Present: Call to Order: L. Erickson called the meeting to order. Approval of Minutes: J. Bucher / J. McGlade made a motion to approve the minutes from the December meeting. All present voted aye. Motion passed. Additions to Agenda: Old Business: New Business: Discussion on sight distance coming out of River Run Addition onto 20 th St. So. J.Bucher had discussions with the owner of the development about the sight distance coming out to this addition worried about a potential accident. J. Bucher looked in the MUTCD manual for the appropriate signage and also suggested on doing a speed study. T.Sonnenburg asked if this would be a county issue doesn’t make sense to put a sign rig ht on top of the hill it would have to be placed in the county. C.Richter suggested on looking at this and come back with recommendations. Discussion on stop sign request at 9th Street and 9th Avenue C.Richter stated a concerned citizen sated there is poor visibility at this intersection. Currently there is a stop sign on 9th Avenue. The request at this intersection be for would be for a 4-way stop. L. Erickson drove this area and would be in favor of a 4-way stop sign. C. Richter will check the warrants and see if this intersection meets them and will bring back recommendations to this committee. 2 Member Reports: The next meeting is scheduled for November 11, 2021.
