Item #5a - Action on Lease Agreement with Medary Aviation, LLC. - Sommerfeld explained the details to this lease agreement. This will be a 5 year lease instead of the 25 year lease. Item #6 - Airport Manaaer's Report - Sommerfeld reported that the C-17 aircraft will no longer be coming to Brookings because due to budget reallocation. They would still like to come here for a fly -over but it won't be until after October 1St when they review budget and funds availability. COVID funds have been requested from the FAA for reimbursement of expenses. Funds should be received within the next few months. Sommerfeld would like some suggestions on how to use these funds, he suggests maybe landscaping. If members of the board could bring ideas to the next meeting he would appreciate it. Signage at the airport was suggested. NORAD testing will begin soon, they will be arriving on August 26th and will start testing a few days later. The seal coat project has been pushed back by a week to allow for unforeseen circumstances that could come up for the testing, weather for example Item #7 - Helm's Updates - A preconstruction meeting was held this week for the seal coat project at the Airport. The mill and overlay part of the project will be complete first. They anticipate there will be 2 days of closure of 17/35 and this would allow sufficient time for the asphalt to cure up. The seal coat portion will be done next. They plan that this part of the project will probably last 3 to 4 days during the week of September 13th. There will also be a period of time that the seal coat will need to cure before they can paint the markings, so the painting will take place in early October. Items #8 - SDSU Report - Riedesel reported for SDSU, they have approximately 180 active pilots. Hiring is good right now for these pilots. Currently they have about 30 flight instructors.
