HomeMy WebLinkAboutAirMinutes_2021_06_16Brookings Regional Airport Board Brookings, SD 57006 June 16, 2021 The Brookings Airport Board was called to order by Brian VanLiere on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 3:30 PM in the Executive Session Room #312. Members present were Brady Klocker, Lynn Riedesel, Ory Smidt, and VanLiere. McLaughlin was absent. Also present were Airport Manager Matthew Sommerfeld and FBO - Randy Hansen and Paul Hanusa. Item #1 - Roll Call Item #2 - (Smidt/Klocker) Motion to approve the agenda with the addition of Item #9.5 - Hangar Development. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #3 - (Klocker/Riedesel) Motion to approve the May 20, 2021 minutes. All present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED. Item #4 -The next scheduled meeting date is Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 3:30 p.m. Item #5 - Hangar Inspections - Inspections will be July 7th from 10:30 to noon. Sommerfeld will be sending out letters. Item #6 - Airport Manager's Report - Sommerfeld reported that parts for the PAPI on Runway 30 has just been returned. Muth will be here on Monday morning to install it. There are trees by the terminal building that will need to be cut down, they are blocking the signal for some of the FAA equipment. The Chip Seal project for the parking lots is planned for this summer. A date hasn't been scheduled yet. The new mower deck has been delivered and is being used, it works well. Some spraying has been done around the airfield. Item #7 - Helm's Updates - Sommerfeld reported that we are still waiting on the Grant award. Until this has been received, the chip seal project can't be scheduled. Items #8 - SDSU Report - Riedesel reported that the Summer Program is in progress. They do have some staffing changes going on at SDSU. Item #9 - FBO Report - Hanusa stated that its been busy. Fuel sales are up! Hansen reported that fuel prices are starting to inch up. At this time they haven't increased their prices yet. Pheasant Fury has a new secretary. The sump pump for the Jet A tank quit working. Item #9.5 - Hangar Development - Hansen asked if the hangar development item could be a standing item on the agenda. SDSU Foundation has decided that they would pay for the building of the hangar and lease to SDSU until they can pay for it. Medary Aviation LLC who is a subsidiary of SDSU Foundation will be the owner of the hangar. Mills Development is the developer that will work with them to get the hangar built. The building will need to be ordered by early July in order to receive it before year-end. Mills Development will be meeting with Medary Aviation LLC this week to work out the building details.
