The Brookings Airport Board was called to order by Brian VanLiere on
Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 3:30 PM in the Community Room #300. Members
present were Lynn Riedesel, Ory Smidt, and VanLiere. McLaughlin and Klocker
were absent. Also present were Airport Manager Matthew Sommerfeld and FBO
- Paul Hanusa.
Item #1 - Roll Call
Item #2 - (Riedesel/Smidt) Motion to approve the agenda. All present voted
aye. MOTION CARRIED.
Item #3 - (Smidt/Riedesel) Motion to approve the April 22, 2021 minutes. All
present voted aye. MOTION CARRIED.
Item #4 - The next scheduled meeting date is Wednesday, June 16, 2021, 3:30
p.m.
Item #5 - Airport Manager's Report - Sommerfeld reported that the PAPI on 30
remains out of service. They will be sending it off for repairs.
The C-17 aircraft event is still on schedule for September. They are working out
details with FBO regarding fuel and fueling.
The SDSU parking lot will be chip sealed this summer. A date hasn't been
scheduled yet.
CIP meetings have been held and there isn't much for changes for this year.
Next year there is hopes for a snow blower broom attachment but that may
need to be moved out another year. 2023 it is anticipated for the new parallel
taxiway. And 2025 the seal coating project will include everything except what
will be done here in 2021.
Item #6 - Helm's Updates - The seal coat project hasn't been scheduled yet.
Runway 12/30 will be closed for approximately 5 days total, but no more than 14
days. Runway 17/35 will be closed for a maximum of 5 days and it will not be
concurrent with Runway 12/30.
Items #7 - SDSU Report - Riedesel reported that the SDSU flight program will be
operating all summer and the air traffic should be busy.
Items #8 - FBO Report - Jet fuel sales are good.

Items #10 - Adjournment - Riedesel made a motion to adjourn.
