May 14, 2020
MEETING MINUTES
The Board of Trustees of the Brookings Public Library did not meet due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Communicated through
email for monthly approvals.
BOARD MEMBERS: Sarah Meusburger, Doug O’Neill, Deb Waltman, Kathy Miller, Michael Linehan
OTHERS: Ashia Gustafson, Jen Anderson
1. Approval of Minutes
Ashia Gustafson called for approval of the minutes from the April 9, 2020 meeting. Deb Waltman moved to approve the meeting
minutes. Kathy Miller seconded. Approval through email.
2. New Business
2.1 Approval of Bills
The Library Board members discussed the March 2020 bills, budgets and expenditures. Deb Waltman moved to approve the
April 2020 bills. Kathy Miller seconded. Approval through email.
3. Other Items & Reports
3.1 Librarian’s Report
Ashia Gustafson informed the Library Board members of different tasks the Library staff have been successfully maintaining due
to being closed to the public. Sewing machines are being used to make fabric face mask for the city employees and patrons on
request. On Monday, April 20, the Library started offering curbside pick-up of materials to patrons. Patrons are very excited for
this and we received a lot of positive feedback. On Monday, May 18, the Library will begin offering computer lab access by
appointment only. Katherine Eberline continues doing virtual story time every morning and the children are loving it. Mikaela
Neubauer has been doing virtual art journal, trivia games, book club and one virtual escape room. Katie Burggraff is working on
virtual meetings for Anime and Book Club. They are all working on Summer Reading Programs and this year, we will be more
focus on reading than programs.
