Absent: Connie, Andrew, Nadine, Jenny, Destini Guests: #1: Call to Order: Chair Sternhagen called the meeting to order at 12:03pm. #2 Approval of Agenda: Brianna requests to add discussion to the agenda toward a new public relations position, after #4 ‘Election of Officers’. Holm motioned, Doran seconded approval of the agenda as revised. Motion passed. #3 Approval of Minutes: Holm motioned, Weiss seconded to approve the minutes of the June meeting. Motion passed. #4 New Public Relations Position: Doran and Sternhagen explain the reason for the creation of the new position, that there is a lot of work placed on the Chair and Vice Chair. However the exact roles of the position need to be drafted for approval by the Committee, prior to being set into bylaws. Doran will create a draft bylaw insert for the new position, for approval at the next Committee meeting. City Staff will send the draft out in advance of the next meeting for review. #5 Election of Officers: The Committee lacks full voting quorum of 2/3 majority, so no elections can occur. The Committee members are highly encouraged to make all efforts to attend the next meeting such that voting can occur. #6 26th ADA 30th, what if it was me day, Mayoral declaration July 14th 6PM: Sternhagen recaps his attendance at the July14th Mayoral declaration; Doran attended as well. Sternhagen explains that the original intent to provide #whatifitwasme cookies did not happen, as the frosting is too soft and the cookies cannot be individually wrapped. Sternhagen mentions that there is a small company in town that can also provide the same cookies, but at $3.00 per unit, versus $1.35 at Hyvee. #7 Budget: (No discussion) #8 Public Promotions: WhatifitwasMe Taskforce Update Sternhagen explained that the band concerts were officially cancelled. Doran mentions that Mark had thought of a “drive-thru” outreach concept at the City/County building, around the noon hour to hand out cookies. Olson mentions that the food panty has been recently distributing to quite a few people, around perhaps 280 or so, that this might be a good outreach option. Sternhagen agrees that this would be a good way of outreach to people not already being reached out to with the other methods. Sternhagen asks if anybody else has any brainstorming ideas for promotion. Weiss suggests a BCT prize of #whatifitwasme cookies and ornaments, also setting up a booth at the farmer’s market. Able Award? Sternhagen reminds the group that the Mayor’s Award ceremony is officially cancelled. Sternhagen recommends the group to think about possible Able Award recipients in advance of the next Committee meeting. Doran mentions that the Human Rights Organization is going forward with their own Award, and that it might be good to know how they are formatting their outreach. #9 Other Items: Sternhagen introduces Kristen Witchey to the Committee, who has replaced Laura Littlecott as the County ADA Coordinator. #10 Next Meeting: The next meeting shall be tentatively scheduled for August 28th. Olson to send invite and updated agenda. Doran will set up the Zoom call. #11 Adjournment: Doran motioned, Weiss seconded the motion to adjourn. Motion passes. Meeting adjourned at 1:00pm. Submitted by Matthew Weiss, Committee member.
