Chair Sternhagen called the meeting to order at 12:05 pm
Doran motioned, Grendler seconded to adopt the agenda without addition of topic
Motion passed.
Doran motioned, Grendler seconded to approve the minutes of January meeting. Motion Passed
4. Member re-introductions
5. Pool Parking –last summer issues with people parking handicap spot. Park and Rec department came
up with a solution. (see agenda packet) Doran moved to approve the suggestion, Holm 2nd, motion
passed
6. July 26th ADA 30th Anniversary, Whatifitwasme Day, Mayoral Proclamation at July 14th City Council
Meeting. –Sara Livert at Independent Living Choices made a banner. –wondering if we have other ideas
to celebrate the day and if we could partner.
If there are other days to celebrate please make mention. Tomorrow Down Syndrome Day
7. Budget—City is not cutting our budget at this point.
8. Public Promotions
a. Whatifitwasme task force update
• We would like to purchase a banner and possible a table for promotional
events: cost $225 for 8 foot or $160 for 6 foot –Mark is going to send out
spread sheet with cost and examples
• City Band concert July 26th still unknown if it will happen–need plan that it is
going to happen –ice cream might be hard to social distance, so thinking
cookies instead from Hy-Vee with logo on it. –tabled
• Farmers Market –July 24th maybe provide cookies
• Uncle Sam Jam—still in talks about if they are doing this or not -committee
members not available during that time
• SDSU is planning on having events in the fall
• Radio Promotion—having people go on the air to bring awareness
b. Able Award—city is not doing awards banquet, it would just be use giving it out. -suggestion
to have a public call for the award—Susan and Brianna are going to do some research and get
back to us on how other committees handle this
