Johnson, agenda approved. 2-Approval of Minutes - motion by Treiber, second by Waterman, minutes approved. 3-New Business: Election of Officers 2016 Officer Slate Chair: Tari Waterman Vice Chair: Tom Richter Secretary: Jennifer Johnson Motion by B. Johnson, second by Richter to approve the current slate of officers, motion approved. Review 2015 Annual Report Struck explained overview of BID tax: tax applies to lodging properties with 25 or more rooms, $2 per room per night, tax not applied to extended stays (after 28 consecutive days). Hotels report monthly to the city, sent into the finance office. Type of Occupied Rooms in 2015 Extended stay 7323 Complimentary 3337 Normal 107545 51% occupancy for 2015 Months show a consistent pattern -- May through October have highest occupancy Days of the week -- best days are Friday and Saturday, Wednesday and Tuesday are running at half occupancy. Treiber wondered about an industry standard for occupancy levels. Waterman responded with no, depends on size of town, amenities, competing business, etc Richter, weekends spike due to youth tournaments, SDSU and community events. 2015 BID tax collected = $206, 634.00 Discussed the governance and ends policy document which provides how the City Council manages. Building a reserve fund, set aside a reserve fund for BID, unrestricted funds - approximately $50,000. Review of the CVB Annual Report 28% increase in new event recruitment $12.3 million in economic impact generated, providing the City with a $106.37 ROI 2.8 million online ad impressions and 62% increase in website traffic Review of the Swiftel Center Report Record year in attendance 133,136 total attendance Won Venue Excellence Award Discussion of increasing event competition 4- Action to approve a 2017 Plan of Improvements for Business Improvement District #1 Discussion of possible uses of BID funds Discussion of a sports commission - their job is to organize the volunteer base Reviewed 2017 funding recommendation. Waterman thinks the way the letter is worded it the best way to put the recommendation forward. Motion by B.Johnson to approve the 2017 funding recommendation and letter as is; second by Richter, motion approved. Motion to adjourn by Waterman, second Richter, motion approved.
