A motion made by Wicks to approve the consent agenda items. Corbett seconded the motion. Motion carried. 3 of 6 Reading and Information A copy of the request for proposals was included in the board packet. The proposal was electronically mailed as well as a paper copy sent to the following six firms: Banner & Associates in Brookings; NEXT, Incorporated in Sioux Falls; Ellerbe Becket in Minneapolis; BWBR Architects in St. Paul; HDR Jordan Architects in Rochester; and Marshall Erdman & Associates in Kamano Island. Proposals are due January 31, 2007. CEO Report Carda updated the members on projects that he is currently working on. SoDexHo contract is being finalized as well as interviews being conducted for two new positions that SoDexHo will bring on board. Continue to bargaining on final costs on the computer software as well as finding a different location to house the computer hardware. Evaluating office moves within the building to group by function within the organization. Continue to meet with phone vendors. Olson provided a verbal summary of the CEO’s evaluation that was conducted on 11/08/06. Carda then discussed his goals and objectives for 2007 and utilize this format throughout the organization for performance evaluations. Financial Report The month of December concluded with a good month overall. It was noted that the non-operating income contributed to the revenues being higher than budgeted for 2007. Total organizational expenses were $1,796,517.97. Payroll and benefit expense for the month of December was $919,849.58. Committee Reports th Strategic Planning Committee – The Strategic Planning Committee met on January 16. The committee reviewed a request for proposal to be forwarded to six regional mater campus plan firms th Finance Committee – The Finance Committee met on January 29. The committee chair, Jones, summarized the meeting. It was noted that the meal reimbursement on travel had not been updated since 2000. The current state rate is: In-State: Breakfast $5.00; Lunch $9.00; Dinner $12.00; Out-Of-State: Breakfast $8.00, Lunch $11.00, Dinner $17.00. The committee also reviewed and recommended approval for policy and procedure 8311.1, which will be included in next months board discussion. 5 of 6 th Executive Committee – The Executive Committee met on January 19. There were no action items needing to be forwarded to Board. Unfinished Business A recognition is scheduled on February 22, 2007 to recognize Chuck Blazey and his years of service as a board member. New Business Conference Summaries Six Board Members attended the Rural Health Care Leadership Conference in Phoenix, Arizona in January. There was positive feedback regarding the sessions. Various topics will be brought to the Board in the coming months as items of discussion.
