HomeMy WebLinkAboutSCABMinutes_2018_01_25 824 32nd Ave., Brookings, SD 57006 | 605-692-7539 | www.swiftelcenter.com Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Thursday, January 25, 2018 @ 4:00pm County Board Room Present: Rod Schaefer, Teri Ronning, Jeff Holm, Kyleigh Cramer, Jennifer Johnson, Nick Schmeichel; Tom Richter, Swiftel Center Executive Director, Matt Chapman, Swiftel Center Director of Food & Beverage, Kristina Lankow, Swiftel Center Sales & Marketing Manager. Agenda Discussions:  Rod Schaefer called the meeting to order.  New member Nick Schmeichel who is replacing Tom Coughlin was introduced.  Teri Ronning was elected as chair and Jennifer Johnson was elected as vice chair.  The November 30, 2017 minutes were approved.  Tom presented the 4th Quarter Summary of Events, Event Days and Attendance  Kristina gave an update on the February and March events which include: WILL, StoneSour Concert, Paws for Wine, Home Show, Cole Swindell Concert, Monster Trucks, Hairball, Whitetails Banquet, Spring Holiday Expo, State 8 Ball Pool Tournament, Pheasants Forever Banquet, Styx/REO Concert, Wildfire Cheer & Dance, and various meetings. Kristina also gave a presentation on the new Swiftel Center website.  Matt reviewed the F&B numbers from the Thomas Rhett concert. Pizza delivery capabilities were debuted at the dart tournament in January. He has completed his TAM training and is certified to teach the course to our part time employees. We are switching our food provider to US Foods. Also, talked about the challenges of event turnover like StoneSour concert to Paws for Wine event.  Tom reported that the City Council approved the updates to the former county facilities and JLG has been hired as the architect. He discussed the proposed bills that will inhibit beer distributors from being building sponsors. Tom has been asked to apply to be on the IAVM Senior Leadership Team. We have some new building partners – Bowes Construction and Back in Motion. The State 8 Ball Pool Tournament has committed to coming back for a few more years so we are in the process of installing a cabling system that will put a light above every table in the arena. We have confirmed the State Volleyball Tournament will be here in 2020.  Teri Ronning adjourned the meeting.  Next meeting March 29, 2018 at 4:00 pm.
