Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, November 27, 2019 @ Noon
Conference Room
Present: Kyleigh Cramer, Jeff Holm, Teri Ronning, Jennifer Johnson, Laura Schoen Carbonneau; Jake
Meshke, City of Brookings Assistant to City Manager; Erick Rangel, City of Brookings CFO; Tom Richter,
Swiftel Center Executive Director, Jeremy Linstad, Swiftel Center Associate Executive Director, Matt
Chapman, Swiftel Center Director of Food & Beverage.
Agenda Discussions:
Jennifer called the meeting to order.
The September 25, 2019 minutes were approved.
September financials were presented.

Tom presented the 3 quarter event and attendance summary.
Kristina is out on maternity leave.
Matt reported that there will be tap beer at every event going forward.
Jeremy reported some CIP projects that were recently purchased include: additional banquet chairs
and more power distribution.
Tom mentioned that our Food & Beverage Supervisor, Desarae Miles has resigned. We are not going

to fill that position. A new traffic light will be installed in the summer of 2020 at 22 Avenue &
Bypass intersection. The City Council meeting discussion was replayed. Tom requested two things
from the board: 1) How to tell the Swiftel Center story differently 2) What operational efficiencies
and improved revenue opportunities should we be exploring. Some of the discussion included:
renting to the soccer association, attaching a hotel would attract weekday business, what is the
revenue generated at facilities around the Swiftel Center on an event night, target events that have
historically done well, apply a surcharge for peak season.
