HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&RMinutes_2015_03_02 1: Call to order: 5:31 pm at the Dakota Nature Park In attendance: Steve Berseth, Sean Binker, Erik Dahl, Abigail Howard, Brittany Kleinsasser, Trent Sorbe, Sara Bentzen, Beau Bordewyk, Pete Colson, Chase Ellis, Al Kruse, Darren Hoff. Absent: Erica Saunders, Brittany Kleinsasser, 2: Approval of Minutes: Motion: Steve Berseth Second: Sean B. In favor: All in Favor Opposed: Reports: Chase: reports on Activity Center, Leagues and Al: Guys have out been painting the clubhouse and getting new tables in there. All the Spring equipment is ready to go. 2 new softball lights are on order and should be here. Forestry has been doing line clearance for the utilities. The new Boom truck was delivered. Almost done with the tree inventory, almost 100 percent on the BLVDS, there are about 10,000 trees. Lean team is working the fueling problem. th Pete: April 25 will be the park dedication for the Nature Park. There will be a daylong celebration. We did loose Matt Stock out at the Golf Coarse. We have 3 internal applications. We have opened it externally and will get that filled in the next couple of weeks. Last week we had our kick off meeting with Stockwell engineers. They will be putting together those construction documents and then bid around June to July and hopefully start construction in the fall. Christi our new office person is very skilled and we are rearranging our duties to help utilize her skills to help the office work more effectively. Gary Moen: Talked about the upcoming planning for this upcoming season. Food, Lessons, First Tee Program. 3: Old Business: Sports Field Master Plan: Pete: Was hoping to have the final master plan here today but it is complete and should be released soon. It is basically the 3 main legs of the plan are to update existing fields and then build a new youth baseball and softball complex. I will have the final plan will have next meeting. 4: New Business: 2014 Annual Reports from BRPD: Pete: There are two reports, the parks and recreation plan and the golf coarse plan and what was accomplished in 2014. It gives an overview of all the major projects. Pump Track for Dakota Nature Park: Chase: Information given to board about the update on the design and Trent: Asks about working the park and if we need to leave the park as is? Pete: This area is actually out the backside of the park. Sean: Wanted to know if the mountain bike club or the recreation department drives this? Pete: Says that it is now in our department’s hand in driving the development of the pump track. Future Recreation Center: Pete: You have in your hands the first plans for a potential recreation center. Allso given is a strategic plan on what ideas the board would have as far as facilities and amenities to get incorporated. The first page shows the recreational side and the other is the indoor soccer area. There are two sets of floor plans, one is the soccer fields and then the other side is the recreation side with the walking/running track, tennis, basketball, racquetball and climbing walls. The right side shows the messane area that would have exercise and meeting space. Abigail: What is the status of the funding? Pete: There is not funding as of yet, the major was meeting with individual about donation but it would be a combination of bonds and private donations. Trent: I think it is short sided to not include a aquatics emphasis from the get go. Pete: This is definitely a baseline for the project. Eric: What you would like us to do is to ask the community on what they would like to see with the facility and report back. Pete: Just start brainstorming, there is no right or wrong answer, I am just looking for the boards feedback and what other amenities would like to be seen. Trent: Lets talk about Location: With a project like this you would like to have it more centrally located. Pete: We agree but this plan is to find a suitable space for this size of project. We would like to have a completed strategic plan completed by the end of the year and have the board to be very involved in this process. Abigail: Is there any possibly that the dog park will be expanded? Pete: Most definitely, we can expand and built the current one to be able to expand in the future. 5: Adjournment: 6:59 pm.
