Kays discussed the website created for the Joint Jurisdiction Committee through First District’s website at http://association.1stdistrict.org/brookings-city-county-joint-zoning/. The group reviewed the list of uses within the Ag District in the proposed joint jurisdictional area. They discussed allowing confined animal feeding operations, processing plants, contractors’ shops and yards, shelterbelts, junk yards, livestock sale barns, and other potential uses. The group thought specific areas could be designated for certain types of development, rather than allowing any of the proposed uses to be authorized anywhere in the joint jurisdictional area.
