HomeMy WebLinkAboutE911Minutes_2016_07_21EAST CENTRAL REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS COUNCIL E911 MEETING Thursday, July 21, 2016; 8:30 a.m. Brookings City & County Government Center, 520 3rd Street Suite 230, Room 241 Board members present: Jeff Weldon (City Manager), Ryan Krogman (County Commission), Patty Bacon (City Council), and Larry Jensen (County Commission). Others present: Jeff Miller (BPD), Darrell Hartmann (Fire Dept.), Mark Stratton (Communications), and Scott Sebring (SO). Members Absent: Bob Hill (County Zoning Office), Richard Haugen (County Zoning Office), Marty Stanwick (SO), and Stacy Steffensen (Commission Dept. Director). Call to order: Meeting was called to order by Krogman. Weldon / Jensen moved to approve the minutes of the April 2016 meeting. All present voted aye. Motion approved. Additions to the Agenda: Bills: Miller reviewed non-recurring bills. Bacon / Jensen moved to approve non- recurring bills. All present voted aye. Motion approved. Old Business: None New Business: Miller provided an overview of how the E911 budget works. Member reports: Miller will be providing quarterly numbers at future meetings. Jensen stated the warning system for the City of White can’t be turned off. Stratton stated sirens in the City of Brookings are set to go off for 3 minutes and then turn off automatically. It was assumed all sirens were set for 3 minutes. Jensen stated White’s was going longer and someone had to go and manually turn it off. Stratton asked who is authorized to turn the siren off. Jensen stated it was a city official. Stratton will contact Sioux Falls Two Way Radio to see what the issue is. Weldon updated the committee of the possible purchase of a new siren in 2017 if the City Council approves the budget. This siren would be located at 26th Street South and Main Avenue South.  Next meeting: Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.  Regular quarterly meetings are held in January, April, July, and October on the third Thursday of the month.
